This week is Hearing Aid Awareness Week. Approximately 36 million Americans suffer from hearing loss, and untreated hearing loss can impact a person’s overall health. However, CEENTA’s audiologists are well-trained in diagnosing hearing health and fitting patients with hearing aids when needed.

Hearing loss is the third most common health problem in the United States.

Hearing loss causes

  • Exposure to excessive loud noise
  • Ear infections, trauma, or ear disease
  • Damage to the inner ear and ear drum from contact with a foreign object
  • Illness or certain medications
  • Deterioration due to the normal aging process

More than half of those who suffer hearing loss are younger than 65.

Patients with severe hearing loss who do not wear hearing devices are 27 percent more likely to experience feelings of depression and anxiety compared to those who do. Studies also show a strong link between untreated hearing loss and a decline in cognitive ability, thus increasing the risk of dementia. Also, people with untreated hearing loss frequently experience social withdrawal and isolation, which are risk factors for both depression and cognitive decline.

Premier hearing care in Charlotte

CEENTA is a premier source for hearing care providers, with nearly 30 audiologists and hearing aid specialists in offices across North and South Carolina. All the audiologists are state-licensed doctors or have a master’s degree, some with up to 25 years experience working with hearing aids. They are able to fit a patient’s treatment to their hearing lifestyle, from a quiet life with minimal background noise all the way to a dynamic one with frequent background noise.

Hearing aids purchased at CEENTA come with the latest technology. PHONAK, CEENTA’s newest hearing aid vendor, uses technology that analyzes surrounding sounds and automatically adjusts the volume level based on the noise level of the environment. PHONAK also has hearing aids designed for children, which adapt to the noise levels of classroom and playground environments.

CEENTA also offers Oticon, ReSound, Widex, and Microtech hearing aids.

CEENTA hearing aids have a 30-day return period. They also come with warranties ranging from one year loss and one year repair to three years loss and three years repair, depending on the technology level of the device. Patients can drop them off at a CEENTA office for repairs if they become damaged.
