Dr. Duncan Berry, who treats my arterial retinal occlusion with monthly injections, recommended I make an appointment with Dr. Ian Kirchner concerning high eye pressure and possible glaucoma. The appointment went smoothly with Dr. Kirchner taking time examining my eye and clearly outlining his findings and recommendations.
I felt so reassured by his kind, gentle manner and thoroughness when describing the available options. He was polite and reassuring at the surgery center when I arrived; I felt no fear or apprehension concerning the procedure. I was awake during the surgery and heard his conversation with the nurses. He worked deftly! After the procedure, he came and checked with me and spoke to both me and my friend who accompanied me describing what effects I should expect from the surgery.
The best incident occurred at my post-operative visit: My daughter's mother-in-law accompanied me, and when Dr. Kirchner entered room he immediately greeted her and said it was nice seeing her again. She was with me during cataract surgery and was impressed with him and his demeanor at that time. Dr. Kirchner came to waiting area after my surgery and updated her (which her surgeon had not done after her cataract procedure last month). As we were leaving Dr. Kirchner's office she said, "Well, I have just found a new eye specialist".
