The Carolina Panthers know all about keeping their eyes on their goals, and one player will see them even clearer after getting LASIK to correct his vision.
Defensive end Bryan Cox, Jr., had his procedure on February 7.
LASIK is an eye surgery where lasers are used to reshape the cornea to correct a person’s vision. It is a painless and relatively quick procedure, with prep time taking about an hour and the procedure itself usually taking less than 15 minutes.
Mr. Cox said he wanted LASIK because he was tired of going back and forth between glasses and contact lenses – especially when it came time to play football – and wanted to improve his vision overall.
Mr. Cox finally decided to get LASIK after one of his teammates told him how happy he was with his own results. From there, the Panthers referred him to CEENTA.
CEENTA is the official eye, ear, nose, and throat care provider for the Carolina Panthers, and LASIK is just one of the many healthcare services provided to the players.
Mr. Cox was a little nervous, but he was also excited. He also said he had a lot of faith in CEENTA Ophthalmologist William Hammonds, MD, the LASIK provider to the Panthers who evaluated Mr. Cox’s eyes and performed the surgery.
“Dr. Hammonds is a very professional guy,” Mr. Cox said. “He’ll do a great job.”
After his procedure, Mr. Cox said the whole process was easy to go through.
As for Dr. Hammonds, he is happy he had the opportunity to be Mr. Cox’s doctor.
“Professional athletes, like all our patients, deserve the very best vision possible,” Dr. Hammonds said. “I’m honored to be able to work with the players on the Carolina Panthers to improve their vision, both for work and in their personal lives. We try to bring minimal disruption to their busy training schedules to accomplish those goals. Knowing what an asset great vision is for these patients makes the work very rewarding.”
