Amanda Mackey is a licensed esthetician at our CEENTA Fort Mill office

Looking your best does not have to be a solo job. For quality skin treatments and services, you can turn to specialists knowledgeable about your face’s delicate nature. Today, the career spotlight for CEENTA is: Licensed Esthetician.

What is a licensed esthetician?

An esthetician is a state-licensed skin care specialist who provides medical treatments for conditions such as fine lines, wrinkles, and acne. They often work alongside doctors to assist in their patient’s treatment plans.

Amanda Mackey, a licensed esthetician who works with Dr. Neela Rao at our Fort Mill office, joined the field based on a personal experience. “I started to suffer from acne in my early 20’s and I did not understand why because I was no longer a teenager. I started seeing an esthetician and a dermatologist regularly and got very interested in skin care. I later pursued esthetic school and became licensed 15 years ago.”

What are the expectations of a CEENTA esthetician?

As a licensed esthetician, their patients’ well-being is the top priority. They are expected to know the anatomy of the skin, the limitations for penetrating the skin layers and sanitation protocols to ensure that procedures are performed unabated. Licensed estheticians working with physicians also need be willing to collaborate in order to achieve their patient’s goals.

What are the responsibilities of an esthetician?

Licensed estheticians perform a litany of streamlined tasks that take patients from guidance to treatment to further discussion. According to Ms. Mackey, “Part of my routine is providing consultations with patients to find out their skin care goals. From there, I perform procedures such as chemical peels and laser treatments. Afterwards, I follow up with our patients to see how their treatment went and answer any post-care questions they may have.”

Why should someone start their healthcare career at CEENTA?

CEENTA has a patient-centered approach to our services. This mindset extends to our specialists as well. “The best part of my job is helping patients feel better about themselves,” says Ms. Mackey. “I love helping those that suffer with acne learn how to care for their skin and feel good about their skin again.” When asked about why she enjoys working at CEENTA, Ms. Mackey remarks, “I enjoy working here because I am able to help patients daily, and the environment is the absolute best. CEENTA has many opportunities for employees to grow and learn.”
